At first glance it looks like I was doing some serious helicopter photography to get this shot. Alas, my life is nowhere NEAR that exciting. These are scale model sailboats that are remote controlled. This was a competition/meet at The Villages, Florida. I think it was the Southeast regional meet for this class of boat. 22s maybe? I'm not really sure. I was there for the photo op and to let my daughter see the boats.

This is the mockup for a splash screen for an iPhone App that we are developing for LibraryThing.com.

I'm not sure that I'm all that comfortable with the target-in-the-book idea. But I also think that stick-pins are also a little overdone when it comes to logos for geo-aware applications. More work is needed. On the bright side, I like the color scheme and overall feel.

You can see the original, LibraryThing-based design below. It was good, but it was saddled with the idea of fitting in with the current LibraryThing design scheme.

This is my grandmother from back when she was 14 years old. It's striking to me that even though we say things like "girls today sure look older than they did when I was in (junior) high school," it's clearly crazy talk. She looks a lot older than 14 to me. Maybe it's just the picture. Maybe not.

Anyway, this is a retouching job that I did for my grandfather. He had this picture in his wallet for 64 YEARS! Yes, you read that correctly. He carried this picture with him since the time that they met during WWII. That's almost impossible to comprehend in today's digital, disposable world. Simply mind-boggling and incredibly romantic.

She passed away a couple of weeks ago. I miss her already.

Another watercolor processed image. This time the basic development was done in Lightroom but most of the color modification was completed in Photoshop. Lens correction was also done in Photoshop.

This is the awning from a building on Lower Dauphin Street in Mobile, Alabama, USA.

This is another shot of the MSU football stadium. I have found that I can get very watercolor-like effects straight out of Lightroom with a little processing magic. I have a few more to do but this is a decent example. No Photoshop filters have been used on this image, just Lightroom processing of the RAW data.

This is a faked tilt-shift lens effect. Tilt/shift fakes are popular on Flickr these days but this one was done about 2 years ago. I fancy myself quite the blazer of trails in this regard. A modern day Davie Crockett of Photoshop. Or not.

In any case, this is a real photograph of the agora in Athens, Greece. Taken from the top of the Acropolis. The short depth of field was accomplished in Photoshop. Basic processing was done in Lightroom prior to the trip to Photoshop.
